Wanganui welcomed 13 new citizens with a ceremony at the district council chambers last week.
Mayor Annette Main thanked them for choosing "our place as your place".
The new citizens, from Britain, France and Germany, received certificates of New Zealand Citizenship and gifts to mark the occasion.
Welcoming new people from around the world was a pleasure, Ms Main said.
"We have a diverse community which supports everyone to flourish so I am sure Whanganui will work for you and you will be pleased to call us home," she added. The ceremony was followed by afternoon tea for the new citizens and their guests.
The new citizens and their nationalities are:
Mrs Irene Baker (British), Mr Peter Maxwell (British), Mrs Anne Marie Gray (British), Miss Kathryn Rose Gray (British), Miss Mhairi Eilish Gray (British), Mrs Helen Anne Hanton (British), Mr Patrice Andre Denis Mathey (French), Mrs Carole Mathey (French), Miss Lucie-Marie Emmanuelle Mathey (French), Miss Anne-Sophie Marie-Cecile Blandine Mathey (French), Mrs Kim Frazer Kennedy (British), Ms Jutta Hildegard Renate Rosenblatt (German) and Miss Sarra Jane Smith (British).
