Wanganui business Pacific Helmets (NZ) Ltd is a finalist in the 2014 Attitude ACC Employer Awards and online voting is still open ahead of the awards night in Auckland next Wednesday.
Workbridge Wanganui employment consultant Jan Lawton nominated Pacific Helmets for the award and said she was delighted they had made it to the finals as the accolade was "richly deserved".
When Mark Hood, who lost an arm in a motorbike racing accident, was looking for work last year, Pacific Helmets was willing to take him on and installed a specially built motorised workstation for him.
A year later Mr Hood is still enjoying the work and production manager Glen Spink said it was great to have him on the team.
"Doing this job is so satisfying, as you're putting a product out there which is saving people's lives," said Mr Hood.
Both men are dusting off their suits in readiness to travel to the awards ceremony next week.
"I'm not really a suit-wearing kind of guy, but I'll make the effort on this occasion," Mr Hood said.
