Mitre 10 Mega Wanganui owners Sarah and Hayden Gibson said they were proud to present a $5000 cheque to Hospice Wanganui manager Valda Brechmanis this week.
The money was raised at the Ladies' Night on September 6 at the Mitre 10 Mega Wanganui store at 200 Taupo Quay.
The 650 strong crowd enjoyed learning how to use power tools, pizza making and painting techniques and driving a digger along with live entertainment and supper.
An auction conducted by More FM's Sue Miller and auctioneer Dave Cotton attracted plenty of bidding to raise funds for the hospice.
Ms Brechmanis said hospice staff enjoy the event each year as it is an opportunity to let people know about the service.
"It is great that Hayden and Sarah support us with the funds they raise which they have done for four years now, it is also a chance for our staff and volunteers to buzz around in our t-shirts and talk to people.
"Nobody likes to think about the possibility of their loved ones needing hospice care so it is good for us to be able to fly our flag and wear our colours where people can learn about the service in a friendly, informal way.
"The donation will go towards operational costs, we will put it to the best use we can with much appreciation."
Hayden Gibson says the Hospice is the chosen charity because it is a service that most people have a connection to.
"Everyone will probably know of someone who needs end-of-life care and the hospice provides a vital service to the community."
Hospice Wanganui in Virginia Rd provides professional care for terminally ill patients with a team of 40 health professionals and around 200 volunteer support staff.
Ladies' Night has been a regular event on the Mitre 10 calendar for around 15 years, attracting steadily larger crowds each year.
"It is great event, they were lining up to get in this year and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves." Sarah Gibson said.
