A woman with deep roots in Castlecliff is holding an exhibition about the suburb she calls home.
Lynne Douglas' exhibition, Castlecliff Revisited, opens at the Wanganui Community Arts Centre Gallery today at noon, and everyone is invited.
"It's a photographic tour of the history of Castlecliff," Mrs Douglas said of the exhibition, which includes photographs of the port, shipping, the moles, Duncan Pavilion, and the development of Lunden Park.
The material comes from council archives, donated photos, and Mrs Douglas' own collection of photos, including ones she took herself.
The oldest photo dates from 1884, showing the newly-constructed north mole, complete with the neighbouring cliffs - now gone - that gave Castlecliff its name.
Mrs Douglas has previously shown this exhibition at the Duncan Pavilion as part of the Whanganui Summer Programme.
She has lived in Castlecliff for all but five years of her life.
"My parents lived in Castlecliff all their lives, and my grandparents before them. So it is very much home for me," she said.
Mrs Douglas said the exhibition would appeal particularly to people who remembered Castlecliff from "the old days".
The exhibition runs until October 16.
