An Ingestre St bakery was trashed on Friday after being open for only two weeks.
The owner, who owns another in Gonville, walked into the Wanganui Bakehouse Dairy and Cafe last week to find it looking as though a tornado had ripped through.
He did not wish to be named.
He said it wasn't the first time they'd had problems. On two separate occasions before they opened, someone drove past on the street and shot at the store, once while the owner was inside.
Friday's attack took about 30 people to clean up, but the bakery was back in business again yesterday with new security cameras.
The owner suspected he knew who the culprits were, and police were involved.
Walking in and seeing the chaos last week, he could only describe his feelings at the time as "shock".
"You can't explain it very good," he said.
"We just went out for dinner about 8 o'clock for about a couple of hours. When we came back it was just destroyed."
He wanted to thank everybody who supported them and helped with the cleaning after Friday's incident, and the community for helping.
Whanganui Police prevention manager Senior Sergeant Andrew McDonald said there was an ongoing investigation into the incidents and police were working with the owners "to try to prevent anything like this from happening again".
