The 2-year-old Taihape Gymnastic Club is winning medals throughout the Rangitikei.
Coach Jo Hobbs said last year the 22-strong club were very much the underdogs.
"But this year it's as though they've got the hang of it, are working incredibly hard, really striving to achieve and are bringing home medals."
And not just medals - overall competition titles.
Jo grew up with gymnastics in Britain. "As a kid it's all I did. I loved it and I always decided that if I had daughters they would definitely do gymnastics. It's better than ballet lessons."
Seven years ago she and her husband, former British Army officer Matt Hobbs, came to live at Waiouru Army Camp. They have two daughters Lucy and Poppy. They promptly fell in love with Taihape, she said.
"We just loved it because it was like the very small country towns in Britain."
They made a decision to move, Matt resigned from the army and they shifted to Taihape two years ago.
Jo decided it was time to set up a gymnastics club in the town.
The club trains at the old Taihape Area School and everyone was keen and hardworking, she said. No one misses training. "They all turn up and they love it."
These days though Jo takes the girls and teacher Marty Loughnan trains the boys.
"We're feeling pretty proud of our kids."
