Police are continuing to investigate their treatment of a 14-year-old boy following a meeting between an officer and the family on Monday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Neil Forlong visited Jade Hawthorn, Kelly Thomason and their children in Rahotu to discuss concerns around the treatment on their son Caleb in a disorder incident on Victoria Ave earlier this month.
Last week, police confirmed they were investigating the incident after the family alleged Caleb was hit in the face by an officer and arrested.
The teenager had been yelling at police saying his father, who had already been arrested, hadn't done anything wrong.
Mr Thomason was reacting to a group in a car who had thrown a bottle.
Both Mr Thomason and his two sons faced no charges and were released a few hours later but the family want the police to apologise for the treatment of Caleb who they claim suffered a broken nose in the incident.
Miss Hawthorn said the meeting with police had gone okay and they were told they might have to come to an agreement to disagree.
"He wants to investigate what happened to my son a bit more," she said.
Detective Senior Sergeant Neil Forlong confirmed the meeting and that police were working with the family to establish what actually happened.
"I have now met with the family and I believe this meeting went well.
We are continuing to work with them to establish the sequence of events that took place that evening," he said.
