A third runner in the Rangitikei electorate race has been announced with the Conservative Party's Roy Brown launching his campaign for the seat.
Mr Brown is the party central west North Island chairman and ran in the Napier seat in 2011, before moving to Feilding a couple of years ago.
He said while Rangitikei was a strong National seat he would still be aiming to win the electorate while campaigning for the party vote. He believed the Conservatives higher profile in the past few years would help his chances.
Confirmation of minor party candidates are expected to trickle in over the next few weeks.
A Conservative Party spokesman said the party had a candidate lined up for Whanganui but that was yet to be approved by the board.
NZ Democrats for Social Credit will be represented in Whanganui by Heather Marion-Smith who also ran last time around. She said her candidacy should be confirmed at a party conference in August.
The Mana Party will name candidates for Maori seats on August 5 but is not expected to stand in the general Whanganui or Rangitikei electorates.
Act will also stand candidates in Rangitikei and Whanganui but central region board member Jim Owen could not confirm names.
The Internet Party will not be standing anyone in either Whanganui and Rangitikei.
Press secretary John Mitchell said the party had 15 electorate candidates but did not have the resources to cover each electorate. Taranaki-King Country candidate Grant Keinzley would be helping campaign in Whanganui, he said.
The Green Party will not be standing in Rangitikei or Whanganui but will have Jack McDonald in the Maori electorate of Te Tai Hauauru.
