Navy divers are expected back in the Whanganui River today as police continue their search for clues relating to missing Wanganui man Whetu Hansen.
Last week police and divers were searching an area of the river about 26km from the city up the River Road.
A homicide investigation was launched last December following Mr Hansen's disappearance.
A man, who has name suppression, has been charged with his murder.
Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Harrison said police were being assisted in their search by staff from the Royal New Zealand Navy.
"We are unable to comment at this stage on what exactly we are looking for in the Whanganui River or why we have determined that a search of the river is necessary for the purpose of this investigation," Mr Harrison said.
Police are also seeking information on a 1996 white Ford Courier ute seen in the Palmerston North or Whanganui area on December 4 last year.
Anyone who has information about the vehicle or the death of Mr Hansen can contact local police or Detective Dave Wilson on 06 213 9595.
Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
