A telephone scam trying to lure unsuspecting members of the public with fake discounts for Air New Zealand flights is doing the rounds in Wanganui.
A central city woman, who didn't want to be named, said she received an automated call offering her a $900 discount on her next Air NZ flight, but "realised it was a scam pretty quick".
The woman was worried other people might not be so lucky.
"People are going to get sucked in," she said.
"It makes me worried how many others have ... It worries me a bit."
Air NZ released a statement last week saying they were aware of the scam.
"In some cases the callers are offering prizes or credits for future travel as an inducement to provide personal details," the statement said.
"These calls are not from Air New Zealand and we strongly advise any member of the public who receives one not to hand over any information and to hang up immediately.
"Air New Zealand is just one of numerous well known New Zealand and international brands who have been targeted by this type of scam listed on the Department of Internal Affairs website."
