The faces of World War II veterans will be captured in a special Anzac Day project being carried out by the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photographers.
Two photographers from Palmerston North, Laura Smith and Toni Larsen, will visit the Wanganui RSA after the dawn parade today to photograph the local World War II veterans.
Ms Smith and Ms Larsen are two of more than 100 photographers throughout the country who will be involved in the project.
The photographic portraits will be gifted by the NZIPP to the Royal New Zealand RSA as part of next year's WWI centenary ceremonies, and will also be displayed at locations around New Zealand as part of a commemorative touring exhibition.
Ms Smith said every veteran who was photographed would get a free copy of their portrait.
She said the assignment was an unusual one for her and Ms Larsen, as they are both wedding photographers.
"We're doing it because these people gave a lot for their country and now we'd like to give something back to them," Ms Smith said.
