Kenyan couple Philip and Bellah Dena have a message for New Zealanders - don't be silenced when it comes to talking about your faith.
The visitors are in Wanganui as part of a month-long reverse mission to New Zealand and have found that people have not felt free to express their religious beliefs in case they offend others.
The Denas believe that one's faith is something to be shared.
"If God has done something good for me, share it," Mr Dena said.
The couple's trip coincides with the 200-year celebration of the gospel in New Zealand, and 100 years since missionaries went to Kenya.
Their trip - with other Kenyan church members - was a way to "give something back".
They began in Dunedin, and attended music and movement classes for children and Mr Dena met a men's group where he found the challenges men faced were the same the world over.
Balancing ministry with family was a challenge faced by all who served in the church, he said.
The couple have been impressed with the hospitality shown to them.
In the city of Nairobi, where they live, they worship in a congregation of 3000 people. Nairobi is 90 per cent a Christian city, although there is acceptance of all denominations
This afternoon the couple will hold a free afternoon tea at 2.30pm at the Grand Hotel which is open to the public.
