A man who led police on a car chase through town and scaled fences and roofs while escaping on foot was given jail time when he appeared in the Whanganui District Court.
Ricky Shane Stampa had pulled over to the side of the road for police on December 27 last year, but accelerated away as an officer approached his car, Judge David Cameron said on Tuesday.
Stampa reached speeds of 114km/h in a 50km/h zone.
"He attempted to evade police by jumping over several fences and on to house roofs," said Judge Cameron.
When police caught Stampa, they found a pipe in one of his pockets with methamphetamine residue inside it.
Judge Cameron said Stampa had been imprisoned on numerous occasions, including on driving-related charges.
Stampa faced a driving-while-disqualified charge on Tuesday for which he received 16 months' jail, as well as an extra two months for dangerous driving and failing to stop for police. He earned another month for unlawfully being in an enclosed yard and possessing utensils for meth consumption.
Stampa received 19 months' imprisonment in total, as well as driving disqualifications lasting until September 2017.
