A Hunterville man was discharged from Wanganui Hospital on Friday after his quad bike rolled down a hill.
Volunteer firefighter Steve Monk, who attended the accident, said the man, a local shepherd named Ben, "bailed about halfway down" when the bike went over the bank.
"When we got there he was conscious," Mr Monk said. "He had some injuries to the back of his head and some injuries to his leg - bruising, a couple of cuts."
Mr Monk said one of Ben's co-workers was nearby when the accident happened around 9.30am, and was able to call for help.
St John paramedics stabilised Ben, who is in his 20s, at the scene before the Palmerston North rescue helicopter airlifted him to hospital in a stable condition.
