People are still using Wanganui's North Mole as a convenient place to dump rubbish, to the disgust of Wanganui councillor Jack Bullock.
He said the mole was a nice outdoor space between river and sea, and families loved going there.
He's one of the trustees of the new Whanganui Resource Recovery Centre and what really irked him was that the majority of what he saw was recyclable. The centre got cash from recycled items, whereas picking up the rubbish was just a cost on council and ratepayers. He said security cameras had been suggested for the mole area. "We will catch these people and they will be held accountable. Dumping of rubbish in our community is unacceptable."
