Second arrest made in store robbery

By Court Reporter

Police have made a second arrest in relation to the aggravated robbery of the Four Square store on St John's Hill last month.

The unemployed 30-year-old, who was granted interim name suppression, appeared in the Whanganui District Court yesterday afternoon.

He was remanded in custody to reappear on December 11.

His co-accused, Daniel Shane Whareaorere, 31, has also been remanded in custody to reappear on December 11.

Whareaorere was arrested and charged with the November 17 robbery last week.

The two men are jointly charged that, while armed with an offensive weapon - a pump-action shotgun - they robbed storekeeper Vinod Meghwal of a sum of cash.
