Splash of black and gold

By Merania Karauria

Wanganui's Victoria Ave will undergo a facelift over the next 12 months if the council ratifies the resolution it passed on Tuesday.

Mainstreet town centre operations manager Ritchie Minnell says the bollards, arches, metal frames on the seats, and fences around the gardens in Victoria Ave will all be painted black in keeping with a heritage colour scheme. The detailing on the bollards would be gold, Mr Minnell said.

The gaslights on the arches would be turned off for a couple of days to cool down, then painted black and reassembled.

Meanwhile, the ongoing maintenance of the CBD was continuing successfully, he said.
