The Palmerston North rescue helicopter was called to farmland at Waiinu Beach after a horse and rider were involved in an accident.
Helicopter pilot Marc Bridgman said they were called to pick up a 56-year-old woman who was out on a hunt about 12.30pm Sunday after her horse clipped a spar while jumping. The horse flipped and landed on her, causing chest crush fractures.
She was taken to Wanganui Hospital and was in a stable condition yesterday.
The helicopter was then called to airlift two male skiers in separate trips from Turoa Skifield.
Mr Bridgman said the first skier was airlifted about 2pm, and as they were taking the patient away, a second person was injured.
Both skiers, one in their teens and the other in their 20s, suffered from soft tissue damage and were treated and discharged.
Mr Bridgman said it was fairly standard for the helicopter to become busy during the school holidays, particularly as the weather had been good.
