Not all wisdom resides at 101 Guyton St - aka Whanganui District Council chambers.
That was the message given by Whanganui's mayor at the monthly Chamber of Commerce business networking breakfast yesterday at Caroline's Boatshed.
Around 50 keen local business bodies gathered at the event to hear Whanganui Mayor Hamish McDouall talk about growing the district's economic development.
He said the council was currently working on a project with the Ministry of Defence but couldn't say much more.
"Even though I may be wearing my red undies, I'm really happy to work with any party. I have a good relationship with Ministry of Defence leader Mark Mitchell," Mr McDouall said.
Being a cheerleader for new or growing Whanganui business was also flashing on the mayor's radar.
"Just the other day someone was telling me about a business venture in Auckland and I was on the phone promoting them because I know how important being a cheerleader for Whanganui is."
Mr McDouall said one vision the entire council could agree on was the importance of Whanganui's economic development.
"We know the importance of getting ideas from the community. We are carrying on networking and pushing a good web across the community."
The Business Breakfast, run by the Chamber of Commerce, is a monthly event open to all public for networking.
