A change of focus has brought about a shift in Wanganui's building scene with Simon Penn Building Ltd buying up Baden Brown Builders.
The deal has been struck and becomes effective from December 1.
Mr Brown has built a strong reputation in the trade and a strong client base during his 20 years in business but the energy efficient building venture - eHaus - he has pioneered in Wanganui with Jon Iliffe was growing steadily.
"It's time to concentrate on strengthening and promoting the eHaus brand of housing nationally which is developing at quite a rate, so now is the right time to move into the eHaus role permanently alongside Jon," he said.
Mr Brown said he was "thrilled" to have someone of Mr Penn's calibre taking over the reins of the company.
"From our inception we focussed on high quality workmanship and exceeding customer expectation," he said.
"And Simon has created the same reputation with his customers."
Mr Penn has been a project manager for two national building companies and offers the full new home build service as well as light commercial, renovations and alterations.
He has also bought the local eHaus licence and said he was looking forward to providing the eHaus service alongside his business.
The change of ownership means staff from Baden Brown Builders Ltd have transferred to Simon Penn Building Ltd.
"This is important because it means current clients will still see a friendly and familiar face and will continue to receive the same level of quality and service," Mr Penn said.
Mr Brown said said there was an added bonus of having the eHaus head office situated here. "Interest from Wellington, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Waikato, Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown as well as Wanganui is keeping the office busy and we're looking forward to continuing to offer sustainable building solutions to our region," he said.
