Giants teams destroy opposition

Giants produced a fine all-round performance to beat Johnsonville 11-1 in their top-of-the-table Hutt Valley and Wellington combined premier three men's softball match at South Park, Masterton.

Pitcher Justin Karaitiana was a mainstay of the Giants squad with both bat and ball, hitting an automatic home run and keeping Johnsonville batters under wraps on Saturday.

Dwayne Fricker also starred with the bat in striking an in-the-park home run but it was the solidness of the play in all areas which was the catalyst to the Giants' victory. The win takes them to a clear lead on the competition table.

Giants Presidents outgunned Hutt City United 22-4 in their Hutt Valley competition match at South Park. Ray Stratford showed excellent control at pitcher for Giants while Gordon Wilmshurst was typically destructive with the bat, registering two automatic home runs.

There were good wins on Saturday from the Giants age group sides in their Hutt Valley competition games, the under-13s beating Totara Park at Maidstone 20-3 and the under-15s also beating Totara Park at South Park by 11-1.

Player of the day for the under-13s was the only female in their line-up, first base Tayler Gerrard.
