Greytown power to victory

Turkey Red Greytown hammered Flight Centre Lansdowne by 10 wickets in the latest series of matches in The Rock Twenty20 senior men's cricket competition.

Lansdowne looked in reasonable shape when they batted first and got through to a respectable 136.

Top scorers were Henry Cameron (49) and Alex Treseder (29).

However, that tally proved easy pickings for Greytown with Tim Lucas (59 not out) and Harry Greenwood (67 not out) taking their team to victory without the loss of a wicket.

There was, however, a tinge of luck in the Greytown success as they originally took the field with only three players but by the time the first over had been completed - 20 minutes after the scheduled start time - they had a full muster and avoided the threat of forfeiture.

A1 Homes Kuranui Old Boys benefited from a superb all-round performance by Sam Curtis in their 113-run win over Newbolds Marist Old Boys.

Kuranui Old Boys scored 180-5 in their 20 overs with Tony Russo making 73 and Curtis 50 not out.

Marist Old Boys were then all out for 67 with only Robin James (28) handling a Kuranui Old Boys attack led by Curtis who finished with 5-9 off his four overs.

Competition points are:

Kuranui Old Boys 14, Turkey Red Greytown 12, Red Star 10, Lansdowne 10, Rathkeale 8, Marist Old Boys 6, Wairarapa College 0.

Kuranui Old Boys and Marist Old Boys have played five games, all the other teams four.
