Taylor makes Macklin work hard

Athletics

Michael Macklin was kept honest by Hugh Taylor when the Ruamahanga Ramblers held their first run for 2013 from Howard Booth Park in Carterton.

Macklin has made a habit of recording the fastest time over the longer distances but Taylor stayed with him until about 200m from the finish of the 5.25km event on this occasion. Macklin's spirited finishing burst did give the impression he might have had something in reserve.
