Wairarapa were facing an uphill struggle after the first day's play in their Hawke Cup qualifying round cricket match with Hawkes Bay in Napier on Saturday.
Batting first Wairarapa were all out in 50 overs for a paltry 126. Joe Hull top-scored with 40 made off 75 balls and including four fours while Tim Lucas (23), Henry Cameron (14), Alex Treseder (14) and Nash Patel (11) also made it into double figures.

A sparkling 136 made off 156 balls and including 20 fours and two sixes by Michael Tairoa highlighted the Hawkes Bay reply of 255-2. Seb Langridge was unbeaten on 52 from 130 balls.
Wairarapa used eight bowlers with Stefan Hook-Sporry taking 1-62 off 19 overs and Harry Greenwood 1-36 off 11 overs.
