Wairarapa Cricket Association president Justin Herbert led the way as competition leaders Wairarapa College went on a run-scoring spree in their Umpires Cup senior men's limited-overs competition match with Newbolds Marist Old Boys on Saturday.
Herbert top scored with 84 as Wairarapa College reached an impressive 324-4 off 49 overs.
Also getting runs were Jack Wakeling, 64, Tim Griffith, 47 not out, and Jake Ross, 39 not out.
The Marist Old Boys innings was reduced to 30 overs because of rain and they were all out for 115 with ex-Wairarapa rep Robbie Speers knocking 69.
Wakeling and Griffith completed all-round performances for Wairarapa College after also shining with the ball, Wakeling taking 3-11 and Griffith 4-14.
Rathkeale College scored a one-wicket win over Turkey Red Greytown.
In-form opener Tim Lucas made 36 and T. Thayer 37 as Greytown got through to 159 and Rathkeale College reached their target with one wicket to spare, being 162-9.
New Wairarapa rep George Deans was the mainstay of the Rathkeale innings with a determined knock of 53 and bowling for Greytown, Harry Greenwood took 4-30.
Flight Centre Lansdowne finished with the bragging rights when they met arch rivals Red Star. Batting first Lansdowne made 218, with Alex Treseder (32), Choi Jackson (33), Hayden Barrett (47) and Tom Adamson (34) providing the bulk of the runs. Bowling for Red Star Sean Jarvis took 3-41.
Red Star came up 25 runs short of the Lansdowne total when they batted, being all out for 193. Troy Burling (44) and Jonny Wells (35) were their main run scorers and bowling for Lansdowne Jackson returned figures of 6-28.
Wairarapa College leads the Umpires Cup points table with 18 points, followed by Kuranui Old Boys and Lansdowne on 14, Red Star and Rathkeale on 10, Greytown on 6 and Marist Old Boys on zero.
