Martinborough scored an upset 5-4 win over previously unbeaten Masterton in their Wairarapa regional one tennis match on Saturday.
It was their women who paved the way for the Martinborough victory with Rhona Lovell and Carla Didsbury winning their singles matches and then combining for a doubles victory.
Lovell's singles win over the promising Georgia Atkinson was probably the individual highlight of the match, Lovell dropping the first set before taking out the next two.
Masterton called the tune in the men's singles where Luke Atkinson, Chad Parsons and Duncan Oakley all had victories and Atkinson and Parsons also won their doubles.
Former Wairarapa cricket captain Duncan Didsbury had a good day for Martinborough, winning his singles and doubles.
