Accountant and Wings over Wairarapa board member Craig Clouston, 46, was found dead at Kaituna on Tuesday.
Police were called to Upper Plain Rd, Masterton, around 11am.
His death is being treated as a suspected suicide.
The matter is being referred to the coroner.
Mr Clouston was the most recent partner at Sellar and Sellar, an accountancy firm located in Masterton.
He had been a principal there since 2005.
According to the firm's bio, Mr Clouston was formally a treasury dealer with the New Zealand Dairy Board (now Fonterra).
He had also plus previously held tax and treasury positions with Caltex New Zealand.
When the Wings over Wairarapa community trust was created in 2011, Mr Clouston was one of a number of "who's who" business people to become trustees.
He was also the accountant for the trust.
Mr Clouston also served on the Trinity Schools Trust Board as chairman.
