Lakeview School has been given $2500 worth of sports vouchers after topping the nominations to receive the prize from Jennian Homes Wairarapa.

Gareth Norris, Jennian Homes Wairarapa managing director, said Lakeview pupils were more than appropriate recipients of the donation, which also included sports bottles on top of the Rebel Sport vouchers.

Nominations for the winning school were generated in tandem with the Jennian Fun Run and Walk Heart Foundation fundraiser on Mother's Day at Henley Lake, which borders the school.

"Community wellness and support is important to us and this is the fourth year we've held the Fun Run and Walk nationally. It was really interesting watching the nominations progress and I'm really rapt Lakeview have taken it."

Principal Ed Hodgkinson said topping the nominations was "very pleasing and we're absolutely grateful" to Jennian Homes Wairarapa.

"The vouchers will really go a long way for the school. Money is tight and we try to make it go as far as we can and will really benefit the children here."
