Work resumes on new motel project

After a nine-month delay, construction of a 15-unit motel in Greytown's Main St is finally underway again.

Holmes Construction managing director Andy Holmes confirmed work on the development had started again but declined to say what had caused the delay.

Mr Holmes said work on the site started on Monday and was expected to be completed in about May this year.

"Things are back on track," Mr Holmes said.

"[We're] starting off quietly at the moment but it will build."

He said six or seven men were working on the site but in coming months there could be up to 15 workers.

"We're pleased to be back."

The developer of the motel project is Trevor Pearce, who refused to comment when contacted by the Times-Age.

The development is on the site of the historical "Bottom Pub", which a business group including Mr Pearce bought in 2006.
