Trentham candidates Danamite and The Pumper were only two of a good many fit horses in training at Matamata yesterday.
On a good plough, Danamite and The Pumper impressed over 1200m in 1:13.5, the 1000 in 59.8 and 600 in 34.8.
O'Malleys Boy excelled over 1000m with Let's Planet in 1:1, the 600 in 35.6. Cronus and Zonda kept on terms over 1200 in 1:15.2, the 600 in 36.4.
Bawalaksana and Te Akau Dancer dashed 1000m in 1:1.3 with fog preventing sectional timing at that stage. One Under and Spottswoode ran 1200 soundly in 1:15.4, the 1000 in 1:1.4.
Platonic did a steady 1200m in 1:17, the 600 in 36.6. Oaks candidate Conquistar looked good as she came out of fog from the 1200 in 1:17.5. Race rival Gordon's was kept to an easy 1200 in 1:28.8, the 600 in 41.8.
Petrock and Down South Rose took 1:17 for 1200m, the 600 in 37.6. Dome strode over 1200 in 1:15.6, the 600 in 37.2.
Greenstone Charm did well on his own to cover 1200m in 1:16.8, the 600 in 36.4.
Cornflake, who races at Trentham, galloped well on a good sand track at Cambridge to cover 1400m with stablemate D'Este, the last 1200 in 1:17.8 and 600 in 37.
Star Angel was allowed a 600m breeze in 41.2. Stablemate Rice Terrace did the same, also in 41.2. Spice Bowl and Klusener ran 600 comfortably in 39.2.
Wattenbach, preparing for Trentham on Monday, ran 1600m, speeding up for the last 1000 in 1:4.8, the 600 in 39.5.
Hero worked on the plough, which was dead, covering 1600m, the last 1200 in 1:26.5 and 600 in 43.5. Our Mr Bowe and Classic Suzy went 1200 in 1:17.2, the 1000 in 1:3.4 and 600 in 38.8.
Trentham candidates Regal King and Onyx Own ran the fastest 1000m on a good plough at Te Awamutu, taking 1:1, the 600 in 36.3.
Others timed over 1000m were Just Aqua and Nostromo, 1:1.8 (35); Herbie and Mac 'N' Fries, 1:2 (35); Gone and Elevenses, easily, 1:6.4 (36) and Dominant, 1:4.5 (35.6).
Pyramus returned an excellent final trial for Ellerslie on a fast No 2 grass at Takanini, taking 1:16.5 for 1200m and 37.6 from the 600.
Authenticity sprinted 1000m in 1:2.4, the 600 in 37.4. Bahnhof Zoo was kept up to his work over 1000 in 1:2, the 600 in 36.8.
Rotang worked evenly over 1200m in 1:16.3, the 600 in 38.3. Headliner and Anticipation pleased over 800 in 51.7, the 600 in 37.6.
Electrifying and Last Laugh were the pick of those working at Pukekohe. Electrifying went once round on thefibre track and ended it with 600m in 37.2. Last Laugh galloped once round on the sand, speeding up from the 800 in 51.9 and 600 in 38.7.
Prairie Fire cruised over 800m on the plough in 1:1, the 600 in 44.9. River Reach went at three-quarter pace on the fibre, quickening from the 800 in 1:1 and 600 in 44.7.
Kaimoto Bronko did an easy 1400m, the last 800 in 56 and 600 in 41.5.
Ellerslie runners Lady Tess and Copper Top accomplished easy tasks in good style at Avondale. Lady Tess went 600m on a deep plough in 41.6. Copper Top cruised over 1000 in 1:14.5, the 600 in 42.1.
Nudge, preparing for Ellerslie, was not asked for his best but hit out freely over 1000m on a good plough at Te Aroha in 1:11, the 600 in 41.9.
