Searchers scouring rugged bushland north-east of Melbourne have found the wreckage of a missing helicopter, with the bodies of a New Zealand flight instructor and his Australian colleague inside.
Kiwi Wayne Bulmer and Australian Aaron Williams set off in their Hughes 300 helicopter on a flight from Melbourne to Canberra a week ago.
The wreckage of their helicopter was spotted this afternoon near the base of Mt Skene, a 1,570 metre peak in the Great Dividing Range.
A rescue helicopter winched one of its crewmen down to the wreckage, and confirmed that both bodies were inside.
Searchers say they are relieved to finally locate the doomed chopper, which crashed in a heavily-forested area.
