Review: Graham Reid
Italy-based British jazz-soul chanteuse delivers a long-overdue "best of" which opens with a highly creditable version of Barry White's Never Gonna Give You Up (reprised later in an acoustic version), includes an equally good treatment of Me and Mrs Jones recorded live with pianist Ben Sidran, Paul Weller's Leaves Around My Door and half a dozen originals.
With her dark brown tones, intuitive sense of space and a fine song selection, this is the ideal intro to a career which has taken her from singing on the chart-topping Communards' single, Don't Leave Me This Way, to playing Ronnie Scotts and numerous acting roles in cabaret and television.
