Josh Burgess checks into a 'bohemian chic' studio apartment in Hollywood.
Check-in experience? Polite, efficient and friendly. Asked if I had any reservations for dinner and if any arrangements could be made for me. They even kept smiling after I locked my keys in my room at 3am.
Room? "Sunset Flat" 750sq ft (70sq m) studio apartment style. Enough room to lounge on the couch and feel far removed from your sleeping quarters. Large kitchen with everything you need for concocting three-course meals.
Price? Rooms start at US$299 ($320) a night.
What's so good about this place? The Redbury has taken a "bohemian chic" theme and implemented it tastefully and effectively. There is a record player and albums in each room to match the counter-culture decor.
And the bad? It was hard to find the sweet spot for the aircon when sleeping. The hotel also houses a restaurant and lounge (The Library) which did bring some noise into the lobby after hours; fortunately, the noise didn't travel.
What's in the neighbourhood? Directly across the street is the iconic Capitol Studios building and at your feet the Walk of Fame.
Food and drink? The continental breakfast downstairs is a delicious bargain at $13.40.
The bed? Appropriately, a Californian king.
Bathroom? A large walk-in shower, which is just what you need when trying to freshen up from LA's muggy heat.
Exercise facilities? Full gym in the basement.
Perfect for? Those who value having extra space to unwind apartment-style in their downtime.
Would I return? You bet.
