Police have launched a homicide inquiry following the discovery of a woman's body in Tokoroa.
The 45-year-old victim was found in her Benella Street home early this morning.
A post mortem examination will be carried out later today, but police say there are indications of violence.
Detective Inspector Graham Bell said the woman is thought to have attended a social function in Putaruru yesterday before going to the Putaruru Hotel.
Police think she then walked to a house in Bent Street late last night.
Detective Inspector Bell said they are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious at the hotel or in Bent Street.
