The FBI had to be called after passengers exchanged blows over a boom box on a Spirit Air flight from Baltimore to Los Angeles.
A video, filmed by another passenger and posted on Instagram, shows several women fighting, pulling hair and throwing punches.
Witnesses told CBS that the brawl started when a few passengers played loud music on a boom box after the plane had landed.
When they were asked to turn the volume down and refused, a fight broke out.
Spirit Airlines spokesman Paul Berry told the Los Angeles Times the women with the boom box had replied to complaints by saying "What are you going to do about it?".
"Then to provoke the other customer they were holding up their boom box in the air, waving it around," he said.
Flight attendants and witness broke up the fight and no one was seriously hurt.
Airport police and FBI arrived at the scene, CBS reported, but no arrests were made, although one person was cited.
