Farmer Jimmy Murray describes the year since the devastating Kaikoura earthquake as "an interesting 12 months."
State Highway 1 north of Kaikoura, is still closed and won't open for a while but Murray remains philosophical about the delay telling The Country's Jamie Mackay "it'll be a great road when they've got it finished."
Listen below:
Jimmy lives in Clarence which is situated between Kaikoura and Blenheim. The loss of State Highway 1 has been hard on stock movement with cartage to Canterbury now taking 15 hours "but we've just got to get used to it."
The Clarence river has also suffered says Murray as "it can't find its levels," due to the fault line running through it.
Although it has been a tough time these past 12 months Jimmy and his team have been working hard on getting the farm back in order.
"It's going to be a long process but we'll get there."
