For stock brokers October 19 1987 will forever be known as Black Monday when share markets crashed globally and the world was plunged into financial uncertainty.
Chairman of sharebroking company Forsyth Barr Sir Eion Edgar remembers this "very dramatic day" well as he had just been appointed to the board of the New Zealand Stock Exchange.
Sir Eion spoke to The Country's Jamie Mackay about Black Monday and what it meant for New Zealand as well as what he thinks may be in store with Winston Peters' government decision this afternoon.
