Steady rain over the past six days has caused slips and left the ground soggy around the district.
Just over 60mm of rain has fallen in Whanganui since October 6, though that has been fairly evenly spread across the week.
Yesterday Whanganui District Council roading contractors were working on slips on the Whanganui River Rd, Papaiti Rd and in the Brunswick, Ahu Ahu Valley and Mangamahu Valley areas.
None were closed, however.
State Highway 4 between Raetihi and Whanganui was down to one lane yesterday afternoon because of a slip.
Meanwhile, winds of more than 87km/h were reported at the Whanganui Airport for a short period yesterday morning.
"Our team will be monitoring the weather closely this afternoon and overnight. The forecast is for sun tomorrow, so we are hoping that is the case," council emergency officer Anthony Edwards said.
