Spring might be in the air, but someone forgot to tell the weather, as Dannevirke shivered under a chilly winter blast on Monday.
Snow coated the cat's claw area of the Ruahine Ranges behind the town as a freezing southerly blew in a hail storm in the late afternoon.
Yesterday was another cool day, with the temperature not rising above 11C, before dropping to 8C overnight.
However, the MetService was predicting a lift in temperatures today to 13C at midday, with 16C tomorrow and 18C on Friday as the fresh breezes moved away.
