NIWA weather forecaster Chris Brandolino caught up with The Country's Dom George to explain where the remnants of Cyclone Debbie are headed next.
Brandolino is busy at the moment as rain and active weather is across the entire country.
There is heavy rain in the north island, especially in the Manawatu, Whanganui and Taranaki regions along with parts of the Auckland region.
It seems the South Island will not escape either as tomorrow Kaikoura will be expecting rain and gusty winds. Brandolino says the east of the south island, (north of Timaru) will experience a windy wet day.
Basically - everything is moving south and even Dunedin (where Dom is based), although dry, will be cold, a perfect day for "a big bowl of chilli" says Brandolino.
The weekend will be better although slightly cooler.
Brandolino also explains why cyclone Debbie is now called ex-cyclone Debbie.
Have a listen to Chris Brandolino's full report in the interview above.
Then Dom has a chat to NZME Business Development manager Rowena Duncum who gives us a comprehensive update on what's happening in the Whanganui region and what impact ex-cyclone Debbie has had so far.
It's still raining in Whanganui but things are a little bit brighter and the Horizons Regionals and Whanganui District Councils have actually downgraded warnings says Duncum.
Although it's "anyone's guess" what will happen tonight Rowena believes the region has "dodged a bullet" weather-wise.
Have a listen to the Rowena's full report in the audio clip above.
In this interview Rowena Duncum also gives a Whanganui river update and discusses the difficult situation farmers face when shifting stock during a weather warning.
