New Zealand country music legend Kevin Greaves performed some classic hits at the Paeroa Memorial Hall on Saturday.
Nearly 100 people joined the end-of-the-year concert from the Paeroa Country Music club. Half of them were members of the Te Puke club.
Paeroa president Gary Smith said he was pleased with the good turn out.
Guest artist Kevin performed with more than 20 other country singers that afternoon.
He said he would love to see country music back in trend.
"Back in the day, these (country music) clubs used to be full of young people and I would love to see some young talent coming back.
These clubs are also a good opportunity for them to perform in front of the public," he said.
The Auckland-born artist has lived more than 15 years in Nashville, Tennessee, the heart of country music.
He said country is not as popular in New Zealand.
"It is not something you will see in the mainstream media, on TV or in the news. That is why young people are not too familiar with it here.
"In Nashville, the whole town is a big music event year round. It has more than 12,000 recording studios and song writers come from all over the world to record," he said.
Earlier this month , the New Zealand artist received the Living Legend award as part of the TV entertainment Awards organised by Face TV.
Face TV says the awards have been filmed and will be turned into two TV programmes in the next few weeks.
"We're not in this business to win awards, but it's really nice when you are recognised for what you are doing," Kevin said on social media.
What he loves about country music is simplicity, he said.
"It is about telling stories about real simple life, romance and heartbreak or having a beer with your mates."
Kevin Greaves is now touring the North Island and released the dates of his Nashville tour next July.
The downunder musician will perform in Whangamata for New Year's Eve at the RSA.
