Entries have opened for the 2017 New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards following the Waikato Dairy Industry Awards launch night, held at Farm Source Morrinsville last week.
It was attended by over 80 interested entrants, farmers and sponsors. The evening recognised the national and regional sponsors, enticed potential entrants and was a chance for farmers to network.
Bobby and Jade Millner, this year's Regional Managers and the 2016 Waikato Share Farmer winners, say that by entering the competition you are taking ownership of your future and can give yourself the best chance to stand apart from the rest by showcasing your skills.
"Through the awards programme your learning and development is accelerated. It is a place to challenge yourself, raise the bar and climb the career ladder."
The New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards attracts farmers from across the country, working in all levels of the dairy industry. Within the competition there are three categories; Dairy Trainee of the Year, Dairy Manager of the Year and Share Farmer of the Year.
This year there are prizes galore for getting involved in the 2017 Waikato Dairy Industry Awards. Not only is there a share of $12,000 of National Early Bird travel prizes, but the Waikato region is also giving away three early bird entry prizes of $500 for each competition category.
People who attend any one of the Waikato Launch events can nominate a mate to enter the awards, and then go into the draw to win a $200 Farm Source voucher.
"This year we are encouraging our young farmers to participate, and seeking entry nominations through our sponsorship family. Our sponsors know of many eligible farmers who are quietly running a successful farm. It's time to showcase our talented farmers."
Another Waikato launch event is today at Putaruru Farm Source and the final one is tomorrow at Te Awamutu Farm Source from 11am-1pm.
A meal and refreshments are provided for all who attend the launch events, sponsored by Pak'n Save Te Awamutu, Silver Fern Farms and Waikato Draught.
- Early Bird entries close November 9 and entries close November 30. More information can be found at www.dairyindustryawards.co.nz
