Veteran film actor Max von Sydow has signed on to season 6 of Game of Thrones, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The 86-year-old will play the Three-Eyed Raven, a recurring character who guides Bran Stark in the HBO show.
Born in Sweden, Max von Sydow has had a long career in Hollywood. He's starred in The Exorcist, Minority Report and Shutter Island.
He's the latest cast member to be named for Game of Thrones season 6, which is currently being filmed in several locations across Northern Ireland.
Meanwhile, Watchers on the Wall fan site reports that Game of Thrones has put out a casting call for a "hapless sly son to cruel father."
The character will appear in three episodes this season.
"We need a characterful-looking guy - long nose and skeletal features and perhaps a bit sly - to play a son who is unable to live up to the demands of his savage father."
Based on this description, could it be one of the Frey sons? Actor David Bradley, who plays Walder Frey, previously told Vulture magazine that his character would most likely return for season 6.
