Dozens of domestic flights in and out of Auckland Airport were cancelled yesterday morning as fog rolled in from the Manukau Harbour.
Fog is expected again today. Air New Zealand cancelled more than 20 flights, affecting about 1500 passengers.
Two inbound international flights were diverted to Wellington.
Ansett New Zealand cancelled seven flights out of and into Auckland and also had to divert a flight.
Early morning flights were not affected by the fog, which formed between about 8 am and 1 pm.
Fog also affected ferry sailings on the Waitemata Harbour.
The MetService said there would be a similar risk of fog in Auckland and Hamilton this morning.
