Labour Party candidate Tamati Coffey and newly-elected Mount Roskill MP Michael Wood are coming to Tauranga and keen to talk to the community about key issues.
Mr Coffey is the chosen candidate for the Waiariki seat, currently held by Maori Party co-leader Te Ururoa Flavell. Mr Wood was elected for his seat in a December byelection for Labour after Phil Goff won the Auckland mayoralty.
The two are holding a community meeting at the Arataki Community Centre on Thursday to provide local residents with the opportunity to meet them and hear how Labour intends to change the Government.
Bay of Plenty Labour electorate committee chair Russell Langton said it had been a tough year for people in the Bay with rising rental and house prices.
"Some people are finding it extremely hard to make ends meet," he said.
"There is a high level of concern that more and more of our fellow residents, including children and elderly, are having to live in their cars, in caravans and even in public toilets as was reported recently in the local media.
"Tamati and Michael are both very good listeners and they want to hear from local people about their situations ..."
Mr Langton invited people to join them at the Arataki Community Centre on Thursday at 6.30pm.
