Two local woodchoppers were selected for the New Zealand woodchopping team to compete at the Sydney Royal Show over Easter.
Brothers Shane and Jack Jordan are among the nine, selected this weekend at the Waitomo Woodchop.
The other members of the team, captained by Jason Wynyard, are Kyle Lemon, Adam Lowe, Robert Dowling, David McDonald, Faave Sefo and Warren Riddle.
"It was a huge effort from my brother Jack, who is only 16, to make an open men's team. The team will compete at Easter against Australia in front of 20,000 people," says Shane.
Taranaki axemen took top placings at the Waitomo chop. Eli Jordan took the crown in the Boys Chop, placing first, while Shane won the 350mm UH championship. Jack took second place in the 350mm UH championship, third in the 275mm and the 325mm UH handicap, and fourth in the 275mm ST handicap. Jarod Bevins placed second in the 275mm UH handicap.
