Two men have been arrested after a shopkeeper was injured during an armed robbery in the South Taranaki town of Eltham today.
Detective Sergeant Chris Allemann said police were called to the Black Bull liquor store just after 3pm today.
He said the store had one staff member working at the time. The man was cornered by the two intruders who drove up to the loading zone outside the store and ran in.
Both men were wearing hoodies and had their faces covered.
The shopkeeper has been taken to hospital with an injury to his finger.
While he was being attacked by one of the intruders, the other grabbed the till and both men left in a car that Allemann said was stolen from Stratford that morning.
The same store was hit in another robbery just a couple of weeks ago, Allemann said.
The car was founded abandoned on Rawhitiroa Rd this afternoon. Two men were then located, hiding in bushes nearby, by police dog and handler.
They are now in custody in Stratford, Allemann said.
