Individuals and teams from Stratford High School (SHS) travelled to all ends of the North Island last week to compete in the secondary schools tournament week.
Bradley Podjursky and Simeon Cook both attended New Zealand Secondary Schools Indoor Bowls Tournament in Wellington where Simeon made it through to the semi-finals of the singles competition.
Zhane O'Connor and Crystalee Jane represented SHS as part of the Taranaki Team which won the NZ National Pool for Schools Tournament in Upper Hutt.
SHS Boys First XI Hockey team won two games out of six and finished 12th at Woolaston Trophy Tournament in Levin. SHS Girls First XI Hockey team won two games out of six and finished 10th at Eveline Hankers Memorial Tournament in Stratford. SHS Girls Netball finished 23rd in Lower North Island Secondary Schools Tournament in Wanganui.
SHS Boys A Basketball team finished first in their pool and fourth place overall in North Island Secondary Schools Tournament in Tauranga. SHS Girls A Basketball team finished first in their pool and lost a final for a Silver Medal in the North Island Secondary Schools Tournament in Tauranga. Both basketball teams have qualified for their National Tournament in Palmerston North later in September. Matthew Anderson, Zarhn Collins, Joshua Gilbert and Orion McGeoch head to Wellington this weekend for the NZ Secondary Schools Swimming Championships.
