The children of Avon Kindergarten got their hands dirty on Wednesday afternoon as they planted a range of fruit trees for their new orchard. The kindergarten has had a focus on their garden areas for the last six months with the support of several businesses. Thanks to a grant from TSB Comminity Trust the kindy was able to built a new fence and a rolling compost bin as well as purchase vegetable seedlings, fruit trees and compost for the gardens. Fonterra Grass Roots also provided a grant which has been used to create wooden compost bins and a worm farm as well as purchase mulch and feed for the gardens.
