The sounds of the Stratford District Council Summer Nights concert will sound familiar to many, with the headline act featuring former Stratfordian, Paula Parore.

The past Avon School and Stratford High School student will, along with her husband Clay Darius, be performing as AViiDA at the popular outdoor event.

The couple will be performing a mix of their original songs as well as covers of popular tunes, and Paula says she is looking forward to performing in her home town again.

It's always great to look out and see faces I recognise while I am performing.

Paula says the couple are visiting Taranaki for a family member's wedding, "but if we weren't already in the region we definitely would have planned a trip for the chance to perform. We can't wait".

Paula made a name for herself internationally on season one of the The Voice Australia after being chosen by Team Seal.

Paula made a second appearance on the singing show when she and Clay appeared on season four as AViiDA. They were were snapped up by Delta Goodrem in the blind auditions before being stolen by Ricky Martin in the battle rounds.

Summer Nights will also feature local singers Angelica Lydia and Unity Wara.

With food and drinks available as well as a bring your own picnic option, the outdoor concert is free, open to everyone and fun for the whole family, says community development officer for Stratford District Council Kate Whareaitu.

"Come along and enjoy our beautiful park, great music and a fun night out with friends and family."

Summer Nights is at King Edward Park on Friday, January 15 from 6.30pm. If it is raining the venue will be inside the Stratford War Memorial Hall.
